Island Records is home to groundbreaking musical artists including U2, Iggy Azalea, Demi Lovato, Fall Out Boy & The Killers. As the Label’s digital agency of record, Halo has served as custodian of this legendary British-Jamaican imprint's digital presence for over 9 years.
In 2018, Halo led the charge in bringing a fresh branding approach and design system to the label's portfolio of digital properties — including their flagship label site — which aimed to bring modern pop sensibilities to the forefront while preserving Island's iconic tropical feel.
In With the Old...and In With the New
Technology-wise, this redesign represents a shift to a completely integrated, data-driven solution for Island Records and its parent, Universal Music Group. Beyond a basic re-branding, this project embodied a gargantuan data consolidation and resurfacing effort, with the majority of the site's content flowing from UMG's centralized data management system and encompassing volumes of data dating back to Island Record's 1970's roots.
Under the hood, integrations with modern streaming platforms including Spotify, Vimeo, Soundcloud and YouTube Music keep the island rhythms flowing and Drupal content management makes maintenance a cinch, giving Island Records a powerful, manageable digital marketing platform with extensibility for years to come.
