Job Description
This is a hands-on, low-level Systems & Edge Engineering Technical Lead role requiring strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills. We are NOT looking for high-level Cloud Architects, Pure People Managers, or backend developers specializing strictly in Java, Node.js, or .NET.
To be considered, you MUST have direct, hands-on experience with C/C++, WASM, Edge HTTP Proxies (ATS/Nginx), Linux Kernel/Crash Analysis, alongside a proven track record of leading customer-facing technical engagements.
About the Role:
We are seeking a deeply technical, client-facing Technical Lead to take full end-to-end technical direction and client ownership of a mission-critical, globally deployed Cookie and Consent Management system.
In this role, you will work closely with the client Program Manager, customer executives, and cross-functional client teams (Privacy, Legal, Ads). You will lead the architecture, performance hardening, and global deployment of edge solutions, while acting as the primary technical authority facing the client. You will steer high-risk compliance rollouts (GDPR/CCPA, Didomi), design bulletproof rollout controls, and lead strategic PoCs for WebAssembly (WASM)-based edge solutions (Cloudflare, Fastly).
Responsibilities
Technical Lead & Client Advisory: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer stakeholders and cross-functional client teams (Legal, Privacy, Ad Operations), translating complex technical constraints into business-focused decisions.
System Ownership & Roadmap: Maintain full technical ownership of the Edge Cookie and Consent Management plugin—driving its design, performance tuning, and operational excellence across all consuming properties.
High-Risk Compliance Rollouts: Act as the technical lead for critical consent initiatives (e.g., Didomi, B-EOL) that directly impact advertising revenue. Implement proactive risk-mitigation strategies (percentage-based/bucketed canary rollouts).
Strategic PoCs & Edge Innovation: Lead client-facing strategic proofs-of-concept for third-party CDN platforms (Cloudflare and Fastly WASM-based edge solutions) to establish repeatable, cost-optimized architectural patterns.
Quality & CI/CD Guardrails: Establish comprehensive automated test coverage and platform-agnostic testing frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines to eliminate regressions in mission-critical edge services.
Team Guidance & Mentorship: Guide dependent engineering teams, establish engineering standards, and mentor peers across the engagement.
Requirements
Low-Level Systems & Edge Engineering:
Low-Level & WASM Development: Strong, active hands-on development experience in C and C++, alongside Python and WASM (WebAssembly) toolchains.
HTTP Proxies & CDN Edge Architecture: Deep production experience working with high-performance HTTP proxies (e.g., Apache Traffic Server / ATS, Nginx) or edge computing platforms (Cloudflare Workers, Fastly Compute@Edge).
Protocol Mastery: Deep working knowledge of HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2 internals (header manipulation, cookie management, caching mechanics, connection handling).
Systems & Linux Kernel Engineering: Proven capability in Linux systems troubleshooting, networking, and crash analysis (e.g., core dumps, gdb, memory leaks, performance profiling).
2. Technical Leadership & Client Engagement:
Client-Facing Leadership: Proven experience acting as a Technical Lead in customer engagements, directly interacting with client stakeholders, communicating risks, and presenting architectural roadmaps.
Senior Track Record: 8+ years of professional engineering experience owning high-availability, globally distributed production systems end-to-end with minimal oversight.
Preferred Skills
Hands-on experience with Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) like Didomi.
Familiarity with global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
Experience designing traffic steering and percentage-based deployment controls at scale.
