Job Description
HALO is looking for a Technical Lead who wants genuine ownership — not just a seat in a standup. This is a client-facing engineering role embedded in a high-stakes engagement running mission-critical, globally deployed systems at the edge. You'll work directly with stakeholders across engineering, legal, privacy, and business functions, translating complex requirements into architecture that holds up in production at scale.

Responsibilities
Own the architecture, performance, and reliability of critical edge systems across a globally deployed production environment
Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, privacy, legal, and business stakeholders
Translate complex compliance and business requirements into scalable, defensible technical solutions
Design and implement safe global rollout strategies, including percentage-based deployments and risk mitigation controls
Drive platform quality through automated testing frameworks and CI/CD quality gates
Evaluate and advance strategic initiatives around CDN technologies and edge architectures
Mentor engineers across teams and provide technical leadership on high-impact decisions
Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience, with time operating at a Senior or Staff level
Hands-on expertise in C, C++, Python, and WASM toolchain
Deep understanding of HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2 — edge proxies, caching, cookies, connection handling
Experience with high-performance proxies and CDN platforms such as Nginx, Apache Traffic Server, Cloudflare, or Fastly
Strong Linux, networking, debugging, and crash analysis skills
Experience building automated test frameworks and integrating quality gates into CI/CD pipelines
Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives in high-availability production environments
Strong communication skills — comfortable working directly with customers and cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Skills
Hands-on experience with Cloudflare, Fastly, or WASM-based edge solutions
Familiarity with privacy and consent platforms, particularly Didomi
Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and compliance-driven implementation patterns
Experience designing and executing gradual or percentage-based rollout strategies
Prior mentorship or formal technical leadership experience
