On a recent engagement we routed system-of-record and shared-services endpoints through Apigee X on Google Cloud, then built the layer that makes an API program usable: a Node.js service on the Apigee management and API Hub APIs, powering semantic search across the catalog and live documentation rendered from each API's OpenAPI spec, endpoints, versions, and payload examples, into an internal API marketplace. Proxying the traffic is the starting point; the lasting value is a program where teams find and consume the services that already exist instead of rebuilding them.
