Project Overview
Transforming Health Innovation Through Digital Scale
The American Heart Association (AHA) is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death worldwide. Beyond research and advocacy, AHA empowers millions through education, training, and community programs.
At the forefront of this mission is the Center for Health Technology & Innovation (CHTI), which accelerates the adoption of cutting-edge digital health solutions such as AI, remote monitoring, and digital therapeutics. CHTI’s goal: enhance patient outcomes, lower costs, and reduce barriers to care.
HALO partnered with CHTI to reimagine their digital portal as a modern, responsive, and scalable hub. The new experience delivers clarity and cohesion for a diverse audience: startups, researchers, clinicians, payors, and patients, while reflecting AHA’s trusted authority and relentless pursuit of innovation.

The Challenge
A Mission Too Big For an Outgrown Platform
CHTI’s ambitions were clear, but its digital portal lagged behind:
The Process
Designing a Portal with Purpose

Experience Design & Architecture
We developed a modular design system that highlighted CHTI’s role as a bridge between science and technology. Content-forward layouts emphasized clarity, while the visual language signaled innovation without losing AHA’s trusted identity.

Integration of Flagship Programs
We restructured the platform to elevate CHTI’s cornerstone initiatives:
The Innovators’ Network – a membership consortium connecting startups, providers, researchers, and payors.
Intelligent Health Solutions – evidence-based, API-driven content modules designed to embed AHA’s science directly into digital health products.

CMS Implementation
We delivered a flexible, component-based solution optimized for scale. The new system empowers AHA to launch campaigns, refresh content, and highlight partnerships without reliance on external dev cycles.
